DurhamX | Makers & Shakers is a student maker community bringing together people, skills and ideas from across Durham College.
You don’t need to be an engineer, have a startup idea or already know how to build something. Bring a skill, a problem you’ve noticed, an idea, something you want to learn — or simply curiosity.
Meet students outside your program, learn practical skills from each other and from experts, discover Durham’s maker, creative and innovation resources, and experiment with what different combinations of knowledge and experience can create. Through workshops, skill-sharing, facility exploration, interdisciplinary challenges and collaborative projects, ideas can become experiments, prototypes, creative work or solutions to local problems.
Some things may grow into bigger projects. Some may simply teach us something new or introduce us to people we never would have met otherwise.
