Hello! My Name is Megan Bent and I am seeking re-election as the DCSA Executive Chair. I believe DC is a great place to learn, with numerous supports and resources available to students. My time here has impacted my life immensely, and I am adamant on creating those same opportunities for fellow students.

As the current Chair of the Board for the Durham College Student Association (DCSA), I have been committed to ensuring that student voices are heard and represented at every level. Over the past year, I have worked tirelessly to strengthen student advocacy, improve transparency, and create meaningful opportunities for student engagement, while working closely with students, faculty, and administration to address key concerns and improve the student experience.

I have prioritized initiatives that directly impact our student body, including enhancing communication between students and the DCSA, advocating for policy changes that support student needs, and ensuring accountability in decision-making. I believe that every student deserves to have a say in how our campus community evolves, and I have made it my mission to amplify those voices. I am heavily involved on campus and I believe that there is a community here for everyone.

I am seeking re-election because I believe there is still work to be done. My experience in this role has given me the knowledge and determination to continue pushing for positive change. If re-elected, I will remain committed to strengthening student representation, advocating for the needs of our diverse student population, and making sure DCSA continues to be a strong and effective voice for all Durham College students.

Leadership is about action, and I know I can continue to build on the progress we’ve made while addressing new challenges that arise.

My Accomplishments as Chair

  • Enhancing Food Services – Advocated for a revamp of food services, including successfully pushing for later hours to better accommodate student schedules.
  • Creating Campus Traditions – Founded Campus Clash, the basketball rivalry game between DC and OnTech, bringing school spirit and excitement to our community in the winter semester.
  • Fighting Food Insecurity – Strengthened our partnership with Athletics, leading to non-perishable food collections at every home game to support the student food bank.
  • Additionally, for the second year in a row, I increased our donation funding for the Holiday Food Card Initiative, providing direct support to students in need.
